Save Our Sons Melbourne Cup Afternoon

Dooley & Associates were fortunate to spend a celebratory afternoon enjoying the race that stops a nation at the annual Save Our Sons Melbourne Cup function, which was held at The Ivy.

A fun-filled afternoon was had by all, however, the serious business of the day was highlighting the tragic effect that Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) has on sufferers and how we can all play our part towards raising much needed funds to allow scientific research and clinical trials to continue .

DMD is a severe muscle-wasting condition that affects 1 in 3500 children – 99% are boys.  Currently, DMD has no cure.

Save Our Sons is not only trying to help find a cure for DMD but to also help sufferers and their families get maximum quality of life. As a part of this, Save Our Sons is working in collaboration with the Duchenne Foundation on a national research study looking at the benefits of standing wheelchairs.

Save Our Sons receives no Government assistance and relies solely on support from the public.  Save Our Sons has launched a new fundraising initiative -  5’s for Lives – Easy Giving.  This weekly, tax-deductible donation of $5 (the cost of a cup of coffee) will help Save Our Sons to potentially fast track scientific trials to find a cure of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

1 in 3500 boys.  Short odds really in the race of life.  Every coin, every dollar could be the one we need to help Save Our Sons.
