COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT DAY

THE CEO PROGRAM

Our Operations Manager, Louise Butler has recently completed the inaugural Community Engagement Opportunity (CEO) Program.

The program involves completing a leadership training course, with a focus on working with a Community Organisation to implement a project providing an opportunity to practically test your leadership skills. Participants receive a TAFE Statement of Attainment, with their employer benefiting from their staff being involved in a program that develops the skills of their staff in a highly challenging and inspiring format. The following community organisations participated in the 2011 program:

• Pennant Parade Tutorial Centre
• Mission Australia’s Youth Connections
• St Michaels Family Centre

• Hills School Industry Partnership
• One Community Project

As part of a group, Louise worked with the St Michaels Family Centre to assist them to develop a sustainable fundraising model and further enhance the Centre’s living skills program.

St Michael’s Family Centre, based at Baulkham Hills is a not-for-profit organisation focused on the accommodation and support needs of homeless and at risk women, children and families in the North Western, Western and Canterbury areas.

Part of the CEO program, also involved the participation of the Community Engagement Day which was held on Thursday 15 September 2011. Attendees of the day were provided with the opportunity of participating an activity related to one of the community projects, providing them with valuable insight into the work of the particular community organisation and also to see first hand some of the project outcomes.

The activities were followed by a lunch and presentation, hosted by Trent Barrett at Castle Hill RSL where attendees were given an opportunity to share their experiences of the day.

Through our connection with the CEO program, Dooley & Associates are also now partnering with St Michaels Family Centre to provide legal workshops to benefit the women at the Centre as part of their living skills program. St Michaels Family Centre is an amazing organisation and we strongly suggest you see how you can help – donations of goods and/or services are graciously received by the donation. DOOLEY & ASSOCIATES INAUGURAL CHARITY BALL

SAVE OUR SONS

The inaugural Dooley & Associates Charity Ball supporting Save our Sons was held at Castle Hill RSL on Friday 29 July.

The night was a huge success with the Lyceum venue at the RSL turned into a glamorous ball room beautifully decorated by Special Event Chair Covers. The turn out of 240 guests were entertained by Paul Murray of 2UE as a charismatic and engaging MC and a lively 5 piece jazz band ‘Velvet’. The crowd was energetic and enthusiastic in participating in the evening, including the raffles, the auctions supporting and of course cutting up the dance floor!.

Congratulations to all raffle and auction winners who walked away with some fantastic prizes!

Everyone at Dooley & Associates would like to thank all of the guests for their attendance at this special event and for supporting the amazing work of Save our Sons. The night not only raised awareness of this very special charity, but also much needed funds to assist with their worthy cause.

The generosity of the attendees and supporters of the event helped us raise $20,000.00 on the night. This will go a long way to helping Save our Sons meet their goal of raising $1 million this year to help fund a human clinical trail.

We encourage you to continue to support the tireless efforts of Save our Sons, check out details on future events or how you can continue to be involved on their website.

There are also a number of ‘5’s for Lives’ donation boxes available for businesses to place on their front counters to assist in the ongoing fund raising. If you would like to receive a ‘5’s for Lives’ donation box for your business please complete and return the form.

A special thank you to all of the sponsors and supporters whose donations, time and assistance enabled the amazing Charity Ball to happen.
