The NSW government has recently passed a new law called the Regional Relocation (Home Buyers Grant) Act 2011. What this means for you is that for 4 years, from 1 July 2011 to 1 July 2015, to assist any person wishing to relocate and purchase a home in regional NSW, you will be paid $7,000 to assist with your relocation.
To qualify, you must be moving from a metropolitan area to a regional area. The metropolitan area means the local government areas of the Sydney metropolitan area, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Gosford, Wyong, Wollondilly, Wollongong and Newcastle.
The regional area is any local council area located outside of a metropolitan area.
To qualify, you must have owned and occupied your metropolitan home as your principal place of residence within 12 months before buying your regional home, which must not cost more than $600,000.
There are a few other conditions that a person must meet before qualifying for grant so if you are considering relocating to a regional area, contact us to see if you qualify for a $7,000 assistance payment.
