Community Engagement Day

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Our Operations Manager, Louise Butler has recently completed the inaugural Community Engagement Opportunity (CEO) Program.

The program involves completing a leadership training course, with a focus on working with a Community Organisation to implement a project providing an opportunity to practically test your leadership skills. Participants receive a TAFE Statement of Attainment, with their employer benefiting from their staff being involved in a program that develops the skills of their staff in a highly challenging and inspiring format.

The following community organisations participated in the 2011 program:

• Pennant Parade Tutorial Centre
• Mission Australia’s Youth Connections
• St Michaels Family Centre
• Hills School Industry Partnership

• One Community Project

As part of a group, Louise worked with the St Michaels Family Centre to assist them to develop a sustainable fundraising model and further enhance the Centre’s living skills program.

St Michael’s Family Centre, based at Baulkham Hills is a not-for-profit organisation focused on the accommodation and support needs of homeless and at risk women, children and families in the North Western, Western and Canterbury areas.

Part of the CEO program, also involved the participation of the Community Engagement Day which was held on Thursday 15 September 2011. Attendees of the day were provided with the opportunity of participating an activity related to one of the community projects, providing them with valuable insight into the work of the particular community organisation and also to see first hand some of the project outcomes.

The activities were followed by a lunch and presentation, hosted by Trent Barrett at Castle Hill RSL where attendees were given an opportunity to share their experiences of the day.

Through our connection with the CEO program, Dooley & Associates are also now partnering with St Michaels Family Centre to provide legal workshops to benefit the women at the Centre as part of their living skills program. St Michaels Family Centre is an amazing organisation and we strongly suggest you see how you can help – donations of goods and/or services are graciously received by the donation.
